The mouse pointer in the character generations screens is sticky. Therefore the game can not get started.
Version 3.5.2

The Vista mouse problems are already noted in the bug tracker (issue 118).
The problem is: none of the developers (all two of us) has a vista system to test anything there.
Can you still use the keyboard controls?
Most everything can be controlled by keyboard too,
even though there is still no game manual about key layout.
arrows, space, enter, del, esc ,f1-4 are usable in character selection afair

Is there a difference noticable between full-screen and windows mode here?

OK. I found the settings. But it is so difficult to get there coz in the character generation the mouse button is so difficult to use.
Same happens even in the windowed screen modus

Now I had a character generated with Magic might and Circles but he still misscast all spells.

You need to take sorcery to have a chance of 99% with all spells.
If not every spell has a chance of 50% but increases by 5% every time it is cast sucessfully.

But for the 50% Chance it is strange that the caster missed all spells and that was about 10 casts.

Are you sure you tried the spell 10 times?
Chance will rise 5% even on failure.
So after 10 tries, you will reach 100% .
I rather think, you tried to circumvent the spell failure by saving and loading again.
That won't work.
The sorcery feat would be useless else , now won't it?

On Win 7 the same issue. It is probably an issue somewhere else.
