I was thinking LostLaby could do with some variety in music. We could add some new songs in each of the special levels (swamp = eerie music, destert = arabic music, etc.)

I have already added a GPL compatible song that might work for the outdoor Forest special level. (its in the mercurial)

The only downsize I can think of adding new songs is increased download size. (about 400kb per song)

about the music, at the end of a song will not restart playing if not turned off and back on.
on linux I do not hear at all, but I think is a problem of format

The sound not looping is intentional. The song specifically only plays through once. I think it would become very repetitive if it was looped (since we only do have 1 song at least the first 10 levels)

Yes, size is exactely why I do not want to include more musik in the game by default. Laby is meant to be very small.

We could think about a version you need a useraccount for. That comes with a lot more musik. We could implement a system that reads songs from a folder and plays them. Maybe with other folders for special levels and stuff.

I would have to change the homepage then that there is a login area.

Okay. I have added code so that music playing is "safe" now. The game doesn't crash, freeze or even care if any or all of the music files are missing. It will simply skip playing it if it finds out it has been incorrectly loaded :)

I would recommend moving all of the songs into a own music folder (like I did with the custom monster folder).
