Laby supports UTF-8 so Chinese symbols should be possible. The problem would might be a font that supports Chinese symbols. Also, there is a lot of stuff to translate :)

what about just use the default font the users' system support? so that laybe needn't include so much more fonts in the install pack when support more language in the future

many of my friends loves the game, but feel difficult to read in English..

Actually, the recent versions of laby are NOT able to read utf-8. Only latin1 -> so it's not possible right now. But because of the limitations of our current development environment, we are in the process of re-writing the whole game anew in C++. That version then WILL support utf-8. But it will take quite a bit more time until that version is approaching release readiness.
As to accessing the "system" font: there simply is no cross-platform method to read this. Different systems even use different font formats for example.

it seemed many parts of the game do support utf-8, maybe in the utf-8-support OS. not all of couse, but with them players in our country can remember the game easily even if they don't know english.
please allow me to do the translate work. i'm sure there's many players love the game but blocked by a foreign language.

This only works for the external resources. The strings inside the executable file are something else. Especially under Linux this does not work because of compiler issues. :(
We'd also require a free available font which supports all needed characters, Chinese, western and eastern Europe. Might work without that, but only once we are done re-programming everything in C++...
So once we have put all texts into external resource files, you are free to get cracking, and we will happily include your translation.

Looks good to me.
I will have a loop in converting items, spells and all the rest into files as well.
We do have a lot of palyers in china so it would be really nice to have a working chinese version.
This is a lot of work so please do not expect this new version too soon.
