Fedora 20 x64 with 16GB RAM.

Game version: 14.06.2014
Extended Version: Yes
Date: 2014-07-30 (15:18:35)
OS: Linux (64-bit)

Error message: Segmentation violation
Error location: procs_graphics.pbi (line 353)

The error is unrecoverable and Lost Labyrinth will now quit.

This happens when I try and start the program.

Hmm... this segfault appears to happen when drawing graphical text on the screen during resource loading. I guess the crash is immediate - before you see anything on the screen.
If so, then crash happens when loading sprites from the graphics.zip.

1.) If you installed the game with a packet manager, then try with the tar instead. Laby can run without installing and we might not have created the manager files correctly.

md5sum of the 64 bit linux installers for laby extended.

To make sure nothing went wrong during up/download.
The elf binary has md5sum:
2b8172d73122b76fbe27f84afc458658 laby

2.) You can also try running the 32 bit compile. You might have to install the 32 bit libs for backward compatibility for that. If accessing the graphics.zip is indeed the problem, then using the 32 bit ought to work because it loads the sprites directly from files.
This is because zip extraction does not work under Markus' 32 bit test system. This can very well have it's cause from other hard- or software system differences than 32 vs. 64 bit. So your system might have that in common with Markus'.

3.) For test evaluation, it would also be nice to know if the free laby version does work.

4.) You can try switching between windowed/fullscreen mode by changing the ~/.lostlaby/settings.txt file with a text editor. For example: on my system full screen mode does not work when using the AMD closed source drivers - only with the open source graphics drivers.

Thank you. One interesting thing I found out is the error only happens when I start the program by the icon. If I start it from the command line (i.e laby) it starts fine and segfaults when exiting....

/usr/bin/laby: line 3: 6369 Segmentation fault (core dumped) ./laby

Lost Labyrinth encountered a critical error!

but at least I can play it :)

The laby program is trying to write log messages to the console. It may be possible that this fails when starting it via the icon.
So it seems our install package does not set up things quite correctly.

The program crash on exit does happen on all Linux machines for us too. That will probably only go away with a full rewrite of the program in a different language. Fortunately, this bug is only ugly to look at and does not cause any problems playing.

So the rpm creation needs to be improved.
I am glad that it works at all ;)

Most linux users seem to use deb based distros nowadays but nevertheless we should look into this error.
